Not as good as I expected

I have been considering one of these lights for a while, and wanted to start using the Govee brand for their choice in lighting. But I am very disappointed with the brightness. All the videos and pictures make out that these lights light up large areas of wall with bright colours but in reality, if you have dark walls, the effects are subdued. I think my expectations were too high or I just have the wrong type of walls, but since the first time I don't think I have turned it on. And it will probably end up in a spare room, forgotten about. It also makes me wary of investigating in the brand incase my next purchase doesn't live up to the hype either.
